Rohingyan Girl Illustration

For the first artwork, I took inspiration from the photo of a young Rohingyan refugee carrying vegetables through her village.

In my artwork I wanted her to be seemingly looking forward, into the future and the possibilites that could await her in her life, if given the opportunities.

Although she likely has been through many hardships, none that we will know from this picture alone. I felt her gaze and stance showed a deep sense of strength, resilience & identity.

Rohingyan Village Illustration

For the second artwork, I took inspiration from the photo a Rohingya refugee village.

I specifically wanted to highlight the presence of the many pathways connecting the village and its people, and to represent the deep sense of connection and the vastness of the community.

  • Used a "jargon free" language avoiding scientific or research-heavy terminology that could confuse audiences.

  • Initial drafts featured a four way color scheme to distinguish stakeholder groups.

  • Later versions shifted to a simplified, limited color palette, reducing visual overwhelm and improving overall clarity.

  • Choose a visually clear and easy to follow layout to ensure accessibility for stakeholders, students, refugee communities and the general public
